Euromed Group Srl in collaboration with Onorato Consulting, is pleased to share the positive results of the activities carried out within the Cluster Connect Mission 1 – Italy-ECF project, which saw the participation of the Tunisian Cluster Huile d’Olive du Nord-Ouest. The activities, carried out in Puglia, were designed to encourage the transfer of skills and integration between Tunisian olive oil producers and the Apulian olive oil system, with a focus on product quality, innovation and sustainability.
Aims and objectives of the project
The main objective of the Cluster Connect Mission 1 – Italy-ECF project was to strengthen the technical and commercial capacities of the Tunisian Cluster to increase the competitiveness of their gourmet olive oil on international markets. Through a structured programme of training and visits, activities focused on:
- To improve the understanding of production techniques and innovations in the olive sector.
- Promoting sustainable agricultural practices to reduce environmental impact.
- Facilitate networking with Italian experts and operators to create new opportunities for collaboration.
- Strengthening the knowledge of the international market to increase the visibility of the Tunisian Cluster.
The activities carried out
Accompaniment on the territory: The days in Puglia were organized to offer participants a direct experience of the Italian olive oil system. The visits to oil mills and farms allowed us to learn more about the processes of olive cultivation and harvesting, with particular attention to the aspects of sustainability and innovation. Meetings with expert agronomists helped to convey practical knowledge and strategies to improve product quality.
Quality and Marketing Training: The training program included theoretical and practical sessions dedicated to improving olive oil quality. A significant meeting was the one with oil sommeliers, during which the members of the Cluster learned the techniques of tasting and sensory analysis, useful for distinguishing and enhancing the characteristics of their product. In addition, marketing strategies to effectively position gourmet olive oil on international markets were discussed.
Networking and enhancement of the territory: The interaction between the members of the Tunisian Cluster and local operators represented an opportunity to create long-term relationships. The visit to the Municipality of Sannicandro di Bari opened the possibility of a twinning between the two realities, encouraging future exchanges of knowledge and initiatives. At the same time, the participants had the opportunity to appreciate the Apulian olive culture, through tastings and food and wine tours.
